Our old friend, Zeno Rocha, returns to discuss email etiquette, the strange new world of AI SEO, the coming LLM enshittification, and SLATE Auto – the just-announced $20k modular EV truck. :link: https://changelog.am/91

Fun episode! The Slate truck has power windows as an option. I'm equally as excited about it as Adam seemed to be.
AI SEO is a good topic and one that I'm going to bring back to work to see what we can do to be better there. Ads in AI is why I believe the future of AI truly is local models. Less energy waste and fewer ads, hopefully.
This was a good one  . That lemon speech from Millions was new to me, but it stacks up pretty well against the one that always comes to my mind: https://youtu.be/NyLUU3O4zW8
So... make lemonade vs. make people want to buy lemons vs. make life rue the day it gave you lemons. Really something for everyone there.
Definitely agree with @Matthew Sanabria and need to bring up LLM SEO at my workplace too. ATM, Gemini does not place my workplace anywhere near the recommendations when I ask it unless I seed it with my company's name.

I brought it up today. We're doing what we reasonably can to get more text on the website and to ensure AI bots can reasonably scrape that when it is trained next. Want to make sure Oxide comes up in the right context but we also know all of this stuff is changing rapidly so we will have to check back as standards emerge. Right now it's very OpenAI centric.
Haha, the cast predicts the worsening of various technology products, I'm screaming Cory Doctorow's "enshittification" at my phone, haha: https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/
I hear so many content creators (text kind) complaining that search referrals have all dried up and they just aren't getting traffic anymore. The AI is just answering the question the user asks and the person who created the answer is left without credit or benefit.
So sad. There just isn't an incentive to produce quality content anymore.
One way to think about AI's unwelcome intrusion into our lives can be summed up with Goodhardt's Law: "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure"
