Folks who may remember me talking about dependencies on https://changelog.com/friends/31 and/or who've been following my blog for a while may know me as a big fan of the Renovate dependency update tool - well, dream come true, I'm now getting paid to work on it, upstream at Mend :rocket:

Wow, awesome! I'm a big fan of Renovate, too!

Congratulations. I'm obviously late to the party here and I'm a large user of Dependabot with all sorts of workflows setup to kick in on every PR. What is the magic that Renovate adds above something like Dependabot that we get with our Github subscription?

Renovate works outside of GitHub, and it's self-host friendly

@Stew Robinson check out https://www.jvt.me/posts/2024/04/12/use-renovate/ for my full thoughts, but it's that Renovate has a tonne of extra functionality that Dependabot is behind on, and it allows for much more powerful configuration that follows your workflow, rather than needing to tweak your workflow to follow it

^ Yeah basically this. I'm a big Renovate user and have read your stuff about it @Jamie Tanna so super good to hear you're joining Mend. :P
First feature request: OpenTofu manager: https://github.com/renovatebot/renovate/issues/30500 :D (jkjk but maybe...?)

Haha, looks like https://github.com/renovatebot/renovate/issues/29809 is still needed as a pre-req - not a "no" but will see what appetite is, I'm sure there are many folks (as can be seen with the 👍🏼 reactions) who'd be appreciative of support
