Has anyone ever set up software to run a self-hosted genealogy service? I am taking a look at Gramps, which seems excellent for doing genealogy on a single computer. I am wondering if there is a service out there that I can host in my homelab and share with other family members so that they can help contribute.

Sounds like a good use case for a graph database, but I don't know of a nice self-hosted GUI for one of those

I believe there's a self-hosted web version of Gramps

Gramps web may be what I am looking for Scott, thank you!

@Ron Waldon-Howe it is temping to build my own UI with a graph DB... but I don't know if I want to open that can of worms. I would probably never get around to the actual genealogy part because I would enjoy building the app.

One of the most painful lessons I never seem to learn is that sometimes using something that's readily available and does 90% of what I want is still better than trying to make my own that ultimately only hits 50% of what I want after hours/days/weeks of work.
